The site requirement is to construct a new passenger terminal and cargo terminal, and associated infrastructure, at Librevelle International Airport to support future growth of the airport.
The new terminal will serve as the primary international airport gateway into the country, providing scheduled passenger, charter and cargo freight services. The new passenger terminal has been sized to accommodate 2 million passengers per annum. The Second phase of development is planned to raise the annual capacity to 2.5million per annum. Considering the earthworks to the east of the site, the linear option in plan was developed.
Merits of proposed design –
-
Retains the existing control tower.
-
Minimises earthwork requirements.
-
Maximises the development land to the east of the terminal.
